Gary Sykes Beat Andy Morris
DATE: 3/5/2010
TITLE: British Super Featherweight Title
VENUE: Leisure Centre, Huddersfield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom
PREDICTION: Gary Sykes
RESULT - Gary Sykes - Points win
A great fight, Morris started better and it initially looked like his experience may be the difference in this fight, his movement was great and he capitalised on Sykes jumping in with his shots, however after a couple of rounds Sykes workrate and size advantage started to wear down Morris who started to take more than he was giving and Sykes took control of the fight, and it looked like he would win. Morris then changed his tactics again and from rounds 7-9 he again turned the tide on this fight and seemed to get a second wind and looked in control again forcing Sykes to look a little raggered. Sykes dug deep and in the closing rounds he picked his work rate up again and it was left in the hands of the judges. It was a close fight and it could have gone either way but all 3 judges agreed on the winner and scored the contest for the new British champion Gary Skyes. I had Sykes winning also but it was a great fight and very close.
